Important Reminder - City will upgrade AFN Network Monday evening, January 28, at 11:55 p.m to 8:00 a.m. Tuesday

AFN Increases Bandwidth

On Monday evening, January 28, at 11:55 p.m., AFN will be offline so City staff can upgrade AFN equipment.  The upgrades will increase the bandwidth, upgrade equipment, reconfigure the network and reload new configuration files to AFN customers’ cable modems.  The system will be back online by Tuesday morning, January 29 at 8:00 a.m.

“There is never an ideal time to schedule upgrades to the AFN system”, says Mike Ainsworth, IT Manager.  “AFN customers are online at all hours of the day, but we had to pick a date and time and selected late night on a Monday hoping it would have the least impact on our customers.  We anticipate completing the work well before 8:00 on Tuesday morning the 29th, but want customers to plan accordingly.  Thank you in advance for your patience.”

AFN customers who experience connectivity issues after 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 29th should manually reboot; unplug the cable modem, wait 60 seconds and then plug it back in.  This will automatically download the new configuration file.  Connectivity should be restored within five minutes of rebooting.

AFN staff routinely performs network maintenance in the middle of the night to minimize inconveniences to our customers and makes every effort to minimize the frequency and duration of any scheduled network interruption.  Cable Modem service requires routine maintenance, upgrading, and repair which will result in occasional network interruptions.
