NAB Report on the End of Analog TV

National Association of Broadcasters

As I shared last month, I attended the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) conference in April. I was not alone. There were over 110,000 in attendance and there where over 1,000 vendors setup to show off what they offer. In the three days I spent at the conference I focused on finding out the truth behind the nations elimination of the analog TV signal coming in February 2009. I attended a session with the former leader of the FCC and the current presidents of Time Warner and Comcast. People who watch TV over the air only with rabbit ears will lose access to all analog TV signals over the air unless they do one of the following. 1. Get Cable TV. 2. Get a subsidized digital signal converter or 3 Get a new TV with the Digital signal converter built in. There is a lot of confusion in the market place especially from the media. The AP published a story that was wrong or misleading. If you have Cable TV today you will NOT need to upgrade your TV or get a Digital Over the Air converter in order to continue watching TV come February, 2009.
